The College of Engineering turned out strong for North Carolina State University’s Day of Giving 2021 on March 24, raising more than $6 million from 1,615 gifts - both records for the College.

Dr. Detlef Knappe has been named the S. James Ellen, Jr. Distinguished Professor of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering in the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering.

Gabr named Distinguished Professor of Civil Engineering and Construction

Dr. Mohammed Gabr has been named Distinguished Professor of Civil Engineering and Construction in the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering (CCEE) at North Carolina State University. 

When the College broke ground on Riddick Engineering Laboratories in 1949, Engineering Dean J. Harold Lampe took things a little further, taking a seat in the cab of a steam shovel being used to begin grading work for the project.

Fitts-Woolard Hall By the Numbers

Work has begun on Fitts-Woolard Hall, the College’s newest building on NC State’s Centennial Campus. The new home of the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering and the Edward P. Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering represents a new funding paradigm for the College and for NC State.

College announces first-of-its-kind gift, breaks ground on Fitts-Woolard Hall

Two North Carolina State University industrial engineering alumni are supporting the College of Engineering’s newest building with the largest gift given for a campus building naming in NC State’s history. The University on Friday broke ground on Fitts-Woolard Hall, which comes as the result of a $25 million gift from alumni Edward P. Fitts Jr. and Edgar S. Woolard Jr.
