Joining forces on face shields

Faculty teams at UNC-Chapel Hill and NC State University share the same goal: creating medical face shields for health care workers. Now, they’re teaming up to make it a reality.

Industry Expansion Solutions helping fight the COVID-19 virus

In mid-March, NC State’s Phil Mintz received a request from the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) asking for “volunteers who can donate and provide and/or produce within two weeks large-scale quantities of critical supplies to help the nation respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.” Since then, his phone hasn’t stopped ringing.

New world leaders: International students form a key component of the Caldwell Fellows Program

Lingchao Mao was born in China and then emigrated with her family to Barcelona, Spain, when she was 10 years old. But when it came time for college, Mao was drawn to the United States. Or, more specifically, to NC State. “NC State is one of the best schools for engineering and statistics, which I knew I wanted to study,” Mao says.
