Generous gift from Wolfspeed extends Palmour legacy in College of Engineering

The gift is establishing the John Palmour Distinguished Professorship in Materials Science and Engineering as well as the Wolfspeed Endowed Scholarship in Memory of Dr. John Palmour. The scholarship will provide need-based support for undergraduates in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, where Palmour earned his bachelor’s degree (1982) and Ph.D. (1988).

More than money

After losing her mother to cancer three days into her freshman year at NC State, Alyssa Bowker found herself thrust into a challenging emotional and financial situation. To honor her mother, and seeded by gifts from their wedding guests, she and her husband created an endowment that they continue to grow to support students facing similar difficulties.

‘The right thing to do’: MAE alumnus gives back to WMEP

Now retired and working as a consultant, Hopkins has made it a point to give back to NC State, especially wanting to help students who are traditionally underrepresented in engineering.

NE honors retiring professor J. Michael Doster

The Department of Nuclear Engineering celebrated Professor J. Michael Doster’s retirement on April 27 with an event at The Dorothy and Roy Park Alumni Center. Colleagues, both current and former, along with alumni and members of our advisory board joined the festivities. Stories were shared about the career of Professor Doster that brought lots of laughter and a few tears.

COE community bands together to support students and research

Alumni, faculty members, staff, students and friends of the College of Engineering came together to show their support and help the College of Engineering (COE) write its next chapter on Day of Giving on March 23, raising $1,504,048 from 1,443 gifts.

In line with other fundraising efforts across campus, the NC State Engineering Foundation, Inc. led the College in surpassing its $230 million Think and Do the Extraordinary Campaign goal this year, with $250,010,197 raised to date.
