College appoints assistant dean for student, faculty and staff equity and inclusion

Angelitha Daniel will start as the NC State College of Engineering's inaugural assistant dean for student, faculty and staff equity and inclusion on Aug. 1. Daniel is currently the director of the College of Engineering’s Minority Engineering Program (MEP) and since July 2020 has also served as a special advisor to the dean for diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.

Five engineering faculty members receive CAREER Awards

Five members of the faculty of the College of Engineering at North Carolina State University have received Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Awards from the National Science Foundation (NSF) in 2022. The award is one of the highest honors given by NSF to young faculty members in science and engineering.

Joel Ducoste, professor in the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering at North Carolina State University, has been named as the associate dean for faculty advancement in NC State’s College of Engineering.

Gilligan, Marshall honored by American Nuclear Society

John Gilligan, Distinguished University Professor of Nuclear Engineering and the College of Engineering’s executive associate dean, was named an ANS Fellow. Lisa Marshall, director of the Outreach, Retention and Engagement Program and lecturer and advisor in the Department of Nuclear Engineering, was honored by ANS with a presidential citation.

NC State researchers recognized for work on PFAS pollution

Detlef Knappe’s work discovering and tracing per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) compounds in the Cape Fear River basin in eastern North Carolina was recognized by a grateful city council in Wilmington, NC, earlier this month.

Cabas Mijares receives NSF CAREER Award

Ashly Cabas Mijares, assistant professor in NC State’s Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering, has received a Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award from the National Science Foundation (NSF). College honors four with Outstanding Senior Awards

Four seniors in the College of Engineering received 2022 Outstanding Senior Awards for their exceptional contributions to NC State and beyond in Citizenship and Service, Humanities, Leadership and Scholarly Achievement. Winners received their awards during a special ceremony held at the James B. Hunt Jr. Library on NC State’s Centennial Campus on April 26.
