National Security Agency renews Science of Security Lablet at NC State

North Carolina State University has again been awarded a Science of Security Lablet by the National Security Agency (NSA) to continue its work in developing the cybersecurity and privacy breakthroughs needed to safe guard cyberspace.

College announces first-of-its-kind gift, breaks ground on Fitts-Woolard Hall

Two North Carolina State University industrial engineering alumni are supporting the College of Engineering’s newest building with the largest gift given for a campus building naming in NC State’s history. The University on Friday broke ground on Fitts-Woolard Hall, which comes as the result of a $25 million gift from alumni Edward P. Fitts Jr. and Edgar S. Woolard Jr.

Dr. Julie Swann will be the new head of the Edward P. Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) at North Carolina State University. 

Terence Chandler, a senior in mechanical and aerospace engineering, received the Senior Award for Service and Citizenship.

NC State engineering senior first to receive Newman Fellowship

In the Institute for Emerging Issues commons area of the James B. Hunt Jr. Library, children can often be found running back and forth in front of a wall of interactive digital screens. Those screens are a hit with younger visitors to the NC State campus because sensors installed on each pull up a panel of information and make a clicking noise when someone is standing nearby. To a child, running the length of the wall is like sliding a finger along a giant keyboard.

Dr. Veena Misra, Distinguished Professor of Electrical Engineering at North Carolina State University and director of the National Science Foundation ASSIST Center, is the thirty-second recipient of the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company Award for Excellence in Teaching, Research and Extension.
