With more than 8,000 students, the College of Engineering is the largest college at NC State University. Located on North Campus and Centennial Campus, NC State’s research science park, the College offers 18 bachelor’s (B.S.), 17 master’s (M.S.) and 13 doctoral (Ph.D.) degree programs through 9 academic departments, 3 affiliated departments in other colleges, the Integrated Manufacturing Systems Engineering Institute and the Operations Research Program.

New engineering students come to NC State as First Year Engineering students, taking a broad range of introductory courses until they matriculate and choose a specific degree program. Our undergraduates are encouraged to take advantage of research opportunities, working alongside graduate students and faculty researchers conducting groundbreaking research.

Graduate students are admitted through NC State’s Graduate School and can earn master’s, with or without a thesis, and doctoral degrees. Our graduate students work with world-renowned faculty on new technologies, processes and products that will shape the future.

NC State’s engineering students also have local and remote access to advanced computing resources through Eos Computing and can benefit from a wide range of academic programs, including distance education programs, as well as scholarship opportunities and a great variety of engineering student organizations.
