Engineering student teams to compete in annual pitch competition

Three College of Engineering student teams have been selected to pitch their innovative ideas at Wolf Den – NC State University’s pitch competition inspired by the ABC television show, Shark Tank.

Brewing up a sustainable cup

A student team develops a coffee filtration system that processes wastewater into clean water and fertilizer and is recognized in a global engineering competition. 

The five team members are (clockwise): Silvana Alfieri, a senior double-majoring in environmental engineering and environmental policy; Kevin Duke, a junior majoring in civil engineering; Rachel Figard, a junior majoring in industrial and systems engineering; Grant Jordan, a senior majoring in industrial and systems engineering; and Pippin Payne, a senior double-majoring in mechanical engineering and religious studies.
