NE alumnus wins Early Career Award

Dr. Boopathy Kombaiah, staff scientist, in the Characterization and Advanced Post-Irradiation Examination Group at Idaho National Laboratory (INL), is the 2022 recipient of the US Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science Early Career Award.

The College honored seven winners of its Distinguished Engineering Alumnus (DEA) award during a ceremony on campus on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021, as part of Red and White Week.

Avramova wins 2022 Outstanding Global Engagement Award

Dr. Avramova is also the Director of Consortium for Nuclear Power (CNP), and the Coordinator of CTF User’s Group. Her research areas include reactor thermal hydraulics, core design, transient and safety analysis, multi-physics and multi-scale simulations, verification and validation, and uncertainty and sensitivity analysis.

NC State announces 2021-22 Goodnight Early Career Innovators

NC State announced its 2021-22 class of Goodnight Early Career Innovators today. This program recognizes and rewards promising NC State early-career faculty whose scholarship is in STEM or STEM education. The 25 faculty selected will receive $22,000 ­for each of the next three years to support their scholarship and research endeavors.

Reignited passion for nuclear engineering

When Kiefer was deciding on what university he would attend, he found the nuclear engineering program at NC State to be of great interest and saw it as a stepping stone in helping to achieve his career goal of becoming a nuclear officer for the U.S. Navy.
