Consider making a year-end gift to the College of Engineering

Campus Gateway

2017 is wrapping up quickly, but donors like you still have time to make your year-end gift to the College of Engineering at NC State University.

While private financial support of the Engineering Building Oval* is the College’s number one fundraising priority, gifts in support of scholarships, professorships and programmatic funds are also a great way to support the College.

To ensure your gift is processed in time to qualify for a 2017 tax deduction, please read the following ways you can make a gift. The majority of the University’s offices will be closing on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 5 p.m. and will not reopen until Tuesday, January 2, 2017.

Online

The fastest way to make a year-end gift with the College is online with a credit card at: http://go.ncsu.edu/engineering-giving. Online gifts must be completed by 11:59 p.m. on December 31st.

Phone

If you would prefer to talk to a person before December 22, please call the NC State Engineering Foundation office at 919.515.7458 or toll free at 866.316.4057. After December 22, please call Advancement Services at 919.515.7827. That office will be closed Monday, December 25, and will reopen on Tuesday, December 26, with office hours from December 26-December at 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with on-call hours December 30-31.

By mail

The last official processing day prior to the winter break is December 22. There is no guarantee that gifts received after this date will be processed for 2017.

Please send gifts to:

Shawnda Hill
Business Officer
NC State Engineering Foundation
Campus Box 7901
Raleigh, NC 27695

Please make checks payable to “NC State Engineering Foundation.” Also, be sure to include a note with your check that states the purpose of your gift or write in the memo line. The gift can then be easily recorded and you will be issued a receipt from the university for your tax records.

Gifts of Securities

Using appreciated securities (stock and bonds) is a popular method of making a gift to the NC State Engineering Foundation. A gift of appreciated securities provides a double tax savings: you can deduct the average of the high/low value of the securities on the date of the gift and avoid the capital gain tax on the appreciation. Please follow the guidelines here to send a gift of a security. Early planning is strongly encouraged.

Please remember, the securities must be received in one of our brokerage accounts with Charles Schwab & Co., Inc., by December 31 in order to be deductible in 2017.

If you hold securities in certificate form, or if you have other questions, please contact the Office of Advancement Services: phone: 919.515.7827, fax: 919.513.2406, or email: stockgifts@ncsu.edu.
