Brenner elected 2024 MRS Fellow

RALEIGH, NC —-Donald Brenner, Kobe Steel Distinguished Professor in the North Carolina State University Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE), has been named a 2024 Materials Research Society (MRS) fellow. This prestigious honor recognizes Brenner for his pioneering contributions to materials modeling and his broader impact on the materials community, including studies that have helped shape major research directions in the United States.

The MRS Fellows program celebrates members who have demonstrated distinguished research accomplishments and outstanding contributions to advancing materials research worldwide. With a maximum of 0.2% of the current MRS regular membership appointed as fellows each year, the distinction is highly selective. Brenner’s selection highlights his significant impact on the field and continuous engagement with the MRS.

MRS Fellows Award recipients will be formally recognized on the MRS website and in the MRS Bulletin, showcasing their exceptional achievements to the global materials science community. Brenner and his fellow honorees will be invited to the 2024 MRS Spring Meeting in Seattle, scheduled for April 25, 2024, at the Hyatt Regency Seattle. This event provides a platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and networking among leading researchers in the field of materials science.

Brenner’s appointment as an MRS Fellow underscores the excellence and innovation fostered within the NC State Materials Science and Engineering Department. His groundbreaking work advances the frontiers of materials research and reflects the department’s commitment to pushing boundaries and driving positive change in science and technology.
