Solihin elected as IEEE fellow

Dr. Yan Solihin, professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at North Carolina State University, has been elected as a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

The rank of Fellow is bestowed upon a very limited number of Senior Members who have contributed importantly to the advancement or application of engineering, science and technology bringing significant value to the society. IEEE, the world’s largest professional society for the advancement of technology, has more than 400,000 members in more than 160 countries.

Solihin, who joined the NC State faculty in 2002, was recognized by IEEE for his contributions to shared cache hierarchies and secure processors.

His research interests include computer architecture, especially architecture support for security, memory hierarchy design, non-volatile memory architecture, programming models and workload cloning. He has published more than 90 journal/conference papers, and holds more than 40 U.S. patents.

Solihin is a recipient of 2017 MICRO Best Paper Runner-up Award, 2010 and 2005 IBM Faculty Partnership Awards, 2004 National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Award and 1997 AT&T Leadership Award.

He received a B.S. degree in computer science from Institut Teknologi Bandung in 1995, a B.S. degree in mathematics from Universitas Terbuka Indonesia in 1995, an M.A.Sc. degree in computer engineering from Nanyang Technological University in 1997, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in computer science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1999 and 2002.
