Gu receives award from American Diabetes Association

Dr. Zhen Gu, assistant professor in the UNC/NCSU Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering, recently received the Junior Faculty Award from the American Diabetes Association (ADA).

The ADA Junior Faculty Awards are given to faculty, up to and including assistant professors, within their first 10 years of research.

The awards provide over $400,000 in research funding for a three-year period and support investigators who are establishing their independence in diabetes research.

Gu began his research for diabetes treatment in 2010.

He will use the award to fund his research in creating a next-generation glucose-responsive insulin delivery system to manage glucose levels.
