D’Amico named coordinator of engineering K-12 outreach extension

Susan D’Amico has been named coordinator of engineering K-12 outreach extension in the College of Engineering at North Carolina State University.

D’Amico will work with the Office of Academic Affairs and the Engineering Place outreach program to promote, grow and improve the College’s K-12 outreach extension efforts. She served informally that capacity for the past several semesters as the College’s K-12 outreach educational engineer.

In that role, she also ran the elementary- and middle-school engineering summer camps on the NC State campus and worked with partner locations in Rocky Mount, Hickory, Havelock and Kinston to provide summer educational engineering opportunities for children across the state.

Before joining NC State, D’Amico worked for more than 20 years in the telecommunications and contract manufacturing industries. She held various positions during that time, serving as an industrial engineer, process engineer, manufacturing engineer, project manager, business cost manager and program manager.

D’Amico received her bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from NC State in 1986.
