About 160 students from North Carolina State University’s College of Engineering celebrated the National Day of Engineering and the launch of the Stay With It campaign on March 14 at Witherspoon Cinema.

Stay With It is a national online community designed to help students keep working toward an engineering degree that can jumpstart a successful career.

Angelitha Daniel, interim director of Minority Engineering Programs at NC State, led planning efforts for the event.

“The event was a huge success and we were delighted with the turnout,” Daniel said. “The students were engaged and seemed eager to talk about their experiences.”

Engineering students had the chance to network with their peers and engineering professionals, get introduced to the Stay With It online community and win prizes including an iPad and a free lunch with Dr. Louis Martin-Vega, dean of the College of Engineering. Students also participated in a live Facebook Tech talk.

The event was sponsored by the President’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness in partnership with Intel, MTV and Facebook.
