Where it all began

Jennifer Wilt can stand in the McKimmon Center, look into job applicants’ eyes, and know exactly what they’re feeling. Just a couple of years ago, Wilt was in the same position when she met recruiters from Spirit Aerosystems at the NC State Engineering Career Fair. That encounter led to a full-time job with the company.

Dr. Keith E. Gubbins, the W.H. Clark Distinguished University Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at North Carolina State University, has been selected to receive the 2012 Foundations of Molecular Modeling and Simulation (FOMMS) Medal.

DeCarolis receives NSF Career Award

Dr. Joseph F. DeCarolis, an assistant professor in the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering at North Carolina State University, has received a Faculty Early Career Development Award from the National Science Foundation (NSF). The award, known as the NSF CAREER Award, is one of the highest honors given by NSF to young faculty in science and engineering.

Dr. Joe Tracy, assistant professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at North Carolina State University, has received a Faculty Early Career Development Award from the National Science Foundation (NSF). Narayan recognized with Lee Hsun Lecture Award

The Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMR CAS) and its Shenyang National Lab for Materials Science has awarded Dr. Jagdish “Jay” Narayan, the John C.C. Fan Family Distinguished Professor in Materials Science and Engineering at North Carolina State University, the Lee Hsun Lecture Award.

NC State Jenkins MBA, College of Engineering launch dual engineering MBA degree program

The NC State Jenkins MBA program (http://mgt.ncsu.edu/mba/) in the Poole College of Management and the Edward P. Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering in the College of Engineering (http://www.ise.ncsu.edu/) have announced the launch of a new Master of Industrial Engineering/Master of Business Administration (MIE/MBA) degree, allowing students to obtain both a master’s degree in industrial engineering and an MBA in two years.

The College of Engineering at North Carolina State University has named the Distinguished Engineering Alumnus award winners for 2010. The recipients are Carlos D. Gutierrez, president and CEO of United Resource Recovery Corporation; Dr. Ross W. Lampe Jr., president of SMD Software, Inc.; and Stuart Edward White, chairman of the board of Field2Base, Inc.
