Dr. Mari S. Chinn, associate professor in the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering at North Carolina State University, has received the 2011 A.W. Farrall Young Educator Award from the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE).

ASABE said Chinn was honored for her “outstanding leadership in educating future agricultural and biological engineers through teaching, research, and professional service.  Her high level of dedication and motivation, natural leadership skills, and gregarious personality make her one of the best and brightest educators of the current agricultural and biological engineering profession.”

Established in 1972, the A.W. Farrall Young Educator Award honors ASABE members under 40 years old for early career achievements.

Chinn earned her BS in biological systems engineering at UC Davis and her MS and PhD in biosystems engineering at the University of Kentucky.

She joined the NC State faculty in 2003.
