Felder honored by American Society for Engineering Education

Dr. Richard M. Felder, Hoechst Celanese Professor Emeritus of Chemical Engineering at North Carolina State University, received the ASEE ERM Division Distinguished Service Award as part of the Educational Research and Methods Division of the American Society for Engineering Education.

Felder is the co-author of the book Elementary Principles of Chemical Processes and has authored and co-authored more than 300 papers on engineering and science education and chemical process engineering. Since 1991, he has co-directed the National Effective Teaching Institute under the auspices of the ASEE.

Felder received his B.S. in chemical engineering from the City College of New York in 1962 and his PhD in chemical engineering from Princeton University in 1966.

The ASEE was founded in 1893 and is committed to furthering education in engineering technology. ASEE is comprised of more than 12,000 members, 40 engineering and engineering technology colleges, and 50 corporations, and several government agencies and professional associations.

The award for Felder was announced in the May 2010 IEEE Transactions on Education.
