University Faculty Scholars Program

The University Faculty Scholars Program will identify up to twenty (20) tenured or tenure-track faculty each year. Faculty members identified as such may use the title “University Faculty Scholar” for the duration of their faculty appointment at NC State.

University Faculty Scholars will receive a permanent increase to their base salary to support their academic endeavors. New cohorts of Scholars will be named effective July 1 of each year.

The nomination process remains the same. To be eligible for consideration, outstanding faculty must be nominated by their college. Nominations are limited to tenured or tenure track faculty who, as of August 16, 2023, are in one of the following categories: assistant professors who have been reappointed for a second term, all associate professors and full professors within the first three years of appointment at that rank. Faculty who were nominated but not named “University Faculty Scholars” in previous years and still meet eligibility requirements may be renominated by their college. No faculty member may receive the award more than once.
