COE community bands together to support students and research

Alumni, faculty members, staff, students and friends of the College of Engineering came together to show their support and help the College of Engineering (COE) write its next chapter on Day of Giving on March 23, raising $1,504,048 from 1,443 gifts.

Roger Narayan elected 2022 MRS Fellow

Professor Roger Narayan, MD, PhD, Distinguished Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering at NC State and UNC Chapel Hill, has been elected a fellow of the Materials Research Society (MRS).

Brudno, Tuck and Zhou recognized with Outstanding Teacher Awards

Three College of Engineering faculty members — Yevgeny Brudno, assistant professor in the UNC/NC State Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME); James Tuck, professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE); and Huiyang Zhou, professor in ECE — were named recipients of the Outstanding Teacher Award for 2021-22. The three professors were honored during the virtual spring faculty meeting.

NC State announces 2021-22 Goodnight Early Career Innovators

NC State announced its 2021-22 class of Goodnight Early Career Innovators today. This program recognizes and rewards promising NC State early-career faculty whose scholarship is in STEM or STEM education. The 25 faculty selected will receive $22,000 ­for each of the next three years to support their scholarship and research endeavors.

Earlier this month, BME Noah Rubin represented the Joint BME Department at the 15th Annual NC State Graduate Symposium, where his poster won 3rd place among 34 abstracts in the Engineering section.

Dayton named chair of Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering

Paul Dayton, William R. Kenan Distinguished Professor, has been appointed as chair of the UNC/NC State Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME). Dayton has served as interim chair of the department since 2019.
