The College honored seven winners of its Distinguished Engineering Alumnus (DEA) award during a ceremony on campus on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021, as part of Red and White Week.

Verbal, Distinguished Alumnus and NC State trailblazer, dies at 79

Claude A. Verbal, Sr., the third African-American to graduate from North Carolina State University and a Distinguished Alumnus of its Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, passed away on Feb. 2, 2022, at his home in Arizona. He was 79.

Brantley, Easter and Hooks receive DEA awards

The College bestowed the Distinguished Engineering Alumnus (DEA) award on John C. Brantley, III, Steffanie B. Easter and Jacob T. “Jake” Hooks. Dr. Louis Martin-Vega, dean of the College, recognized the three distinguished graduates at a banquet on Nov. 6. Brantley could not attend the ceremony.

The College of Engineering at North Carolina State University has named the Distinguished Engineering Alumnus award winners for 2012. The recipients are Stephen F. Angel, chairman, president and chief executive officer at Praxair, Inc.; Jimmy D. Clark, owner and president of Guy M. Turner, Inc.; and Dr. John A. Edmond, director of advanced optoelectronics at Cree, Inc.

The College of Engineering at North Carolina State University has named the Distinguished Engineering Alumnus award winners for 2011. The recipients are Marshall D. Brain, founder of HowStuffWorks.com; William H. Dean, president and CEO of M.C. Dean, Inc.; and Robert R. Womack, former chairman and CEO of Zurn Industries, LLC.

The College of Engineering at North Carolina State University has named the Distinguished Engineering Alumnus award winners for 2010. The recipients are Carlos D. Gutierrez, president and CEO of United Resource Recovery Corporation; Dr. Ross W. Lampe Jr., president of SMD Software, Inc.; and Stuart Edward White, chairman of the board of Field2Base, Inc.
