Engineering alumnus named president of George Mason University

Dr. Gregory Washington, a three-time graduate of the College of Engineering at NC State, has been named as the eighth president of George Mason University. Washington is currently the dean of the Henry Samueli School of Engineering at University of California, Irvine. He will join George Mason on July 1, 2020.

Bottomley, students recognized by NC TECH

Dr. Laura Bottomley, director of The Engineering Place and Women in Engineering at the College of Engineering at North Carolina State University, was named Tech Educator of the Year during the NC TECH Association’s annual NC TECH Awards program. 

Department of Energy funding will include an upgrade to the PULSTAR reactor operated by the Department of Nuclear Engineering in Burlington Nuclear Engineering Lab.

Virginia Teachey, assistant dean for finance and business management in the College of Engineering, will leave her position effective July 22, 2019. Teachey has accepted a position as vice chancellor for finance and administration at UNC Pembroke.
