The Onboarding Center hosts free campus tours so employees can learn about campus landmarks and the history of NC State. Whether you’re a new employee or a longtime member of the Pack, please consider registering for one or more of the tours, and encourage your colleagues to do the same.

PULSTAR Nuclear Reactor Tour

The Onboarding Center will host a special tour of the PULSTAR nuclear reactor on Wednesday, April 26 from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Burlington Nuclear Engineering Lab at 2500 Katharine Stinson Drive. NC State’s nuclear reactor is one of two PULSTAR reactors that were built but is the only one still in operation.

Space on the tour is limited, so reserve your spot as soon as possible. The tour group will meet in the lobby of the lab by the big blue sign. Enter the building through the north entrance.

Tour policy requires participants to provide a photo ID during the check-in process. Also, you can’t bring a cell phone, camera, bag (e.g., backpack, purse, etc.) or weapon into the reactor facility.

We hope you can join us in learning more about the PULSTAR Reactor. To register for the tour, go to REPORTER.

Dairy Research and Teaching Farm Tour

The Onboarding Center will host a special tour of the NC State Dairy Research and Teaching Farm in Raleigh on Thursday, April 27 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. The Dairy Research and Teaching Farm is a 389-acre operation that supports a herd of 245 registered Holstein cows and 55 registered Jersey cows, an ideal mix to support dairy teaching, research and production. The teaching farm is also home to the Randleigh Dairy Heritage Museum.

Space on the tour is limited, so reserve your spot as soon as possible. The tour group will meet at the front of the Randleigh Dairy Heritage Museum at 301 Dairy Lane in Raleigh. You must provide your own transportation to the museum.

Before the tour, please read this list of things to know before visiting the NC State Dairy Research and Teaching Farm.

North Campus Walking Tour

The Onboarding Center will host walking tours of NC State’s North Campus on April 11 and 12.

Guided walking tours of NC State’s North Campus are set for April 11 and April 12 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

North Campus, which is sometimes referred to as “original campus,” includes many of the first academic buildings built at NC State. That part of campus is north of the railroad tracks that run along Yarbrough Drive.

The 1.5-mile walking tours will begin outside Talley Student Union in front of the Starbucks on Cates Avenue. The tours will highlight some of NC State’s history and iconic landmarks, including Reynolds Coliseum, University Plaza, which is known as the Brickyard, and the Court of North Carolina.

If you have questions about the tours or need to arrange accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act, send an email to onboardingcenter@ncsu.edu. Remember to wear weather-appropriate clothing and comfortable shoes on the tours.
