Textile engineering student-athlete gains new perspective on soccer uniform through studies

By Sarah Stone

Goalkeeper Eden Millan says studying textile engineering provides her with a way to stay involved in athletics once her days as a student-athlete are over.

“I know that there will be an end in sight when it comes to sports, but I want to still contribute to it in some fashion,” the junior says. “With textile engineering, I can play a part in helping athletes be more comfortable in the uniforms that they wear.”

It’s also given her a new perspective on the uniforms she practices and competes in. Millan and Professor Emiel DenHartog explain the textile science behind Millan’s uniform below.
