North Carolina State University has been recognized as among the best in the world in two academic subject areas by the 2020 Academic Ranking of World Universities.

Produced by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy and more commonly known as the Shanghai Rankings, the results rate university programs in a variety of academic subjects across engineering and the life, medical, social and natural sciences.

In the 2020 results in areas related to engineering and technology, NC State was ranked ninth in the world and eighth among U.S. universities in electrical engineering and 24th in the world and 11th among U.S. universities in chemical engineering.
