Fall/Winter 2019 NC State Engineering Magazine

Cover of Fall/Winter 2019 Alumni magazine

This issue spotlights the College’s efforts to recruit and retain more women faculty members and the leadership roles they have attained in our College. We have also set new records in the College for the numbers of underrepresented and women students entering as  first-year engineering students this semester.  Not to mention, the latest American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) figures show that we continue to rank in the top 20 nationally in the number of annual bachelor’s, master’s and Ph.D. engineering graduates.

Enjoy reading about our faculty and their ground-breaking research, the successes of our students and the many contributions made by our alumni.

Brewing up a sustainable coffee cup
A student team develops a coffee filtration system that processes wastewater into clean water and fertilizer and is recognized in a global engineering competition.

Fog alert
Researchers in the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering are leading research on the impact of fats, oils and grease.

Research as recruitment
Summer research experiences held on campus help strengthen student skills. They also serve as a way for faculty members to recruit top graduate students.
