Electrical, chemical engineering recognized in Shanghai Rankings

Two programs in the College of Engineering at North Carolina State University have been recognized as among the best in the world by the 2019 Academic Ranking of World Universities.

Produced by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy and more commonly known as the Shanghai Rankings, the rankings rate university programs in a variety of academic subjects across engineering and the life, medical, social and natural sciences.

In the 2019 rankings, NC State was ranked ninth in the world and eighth among universities US universities in electrical engineering and 20th in the world and 10th among US universities in chemical engineering.

The Shanghai Ranking methodology for academic subject rankings considers the number of papers authored by an institution in an academic subject, the percentage of internationally co-authored papers by an institution in that subject, the number of papers published in top journals and conferences in that subject, citation impact in that subject and the total number of staff of an institution winning a significant award in that subject.
