College well represented at 2018 Lulu eGames

Cup't Team, 2018 Lulu e-Games

Students from across multiple colleges at North Carolina State University gathered in Stewart Theatre on April 5 for the LuLu eGames LIVE, the university’s annual startup competition. More than 500 people were in attendance to see the next generation of entrepreneurs.

From a total of 178 entries, winning teams were chosen by a panel of judges in two rounds, with final winners selected from a combination of scores from a business plan and in-person pitch.

Six teams with students from the College of Engineering placed as winners in multiple categories:

Aeva | Steven Guide and Zachary Fearnside

Aeva is designing a solution that speeds up the aging process of alcohol, allowing breweries, distilleries, and wineries to increase profits, experiment quickly, and scale production in real time.

Cup’t | Madison Baldwin, Sarah Alenezi, Els Thijs, and Erin Ferguson

Cup’t is taking customers from size to sale, accurately measuring women’s’ breast size and selecting the best retail options, redefining the bra shopping experience.

Freshspire | Shraddha Rathod [teammates Thomas Armstrong (Poole of College of Management), Sofia Abdo (Poole of College of Management), Emerson Barhnill (College of Natural Resources), Rachel Poythress (CHASS)]

Freshspire is a network and platform that connects food suppliers who have excess produce to restaurants who want to buy it at a lower cost.

TRASHR installs sensors into dumpsters to make the waste collection industry smarter, cleaner, and more efficient.

Vital Guide | Alper Ender, Chris Fesmire, Pratik Bendale [and teammate Anthony Workman (Poole College of Management)]

The Vital Guide improves workflow efficiency and patient outcomes in hospital emergency departments by providing real-time patient vital signs and patient location to hospital staff.

321 Coffee is a growing pop-up coffee shop that is run by individuals with special needs.
