Velev to receive Langmuir Lecturer Award

Dr. Orlin Velev, INVISTA Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and Alumni Distinguished Undergraduate Professor at North Carolina State University, has been named the recipient of the 2018 Langmuir Lecturer Award from the Division of Colloid and Surface Chemistry of the American Chemical Society (ACS).

The award recognizes individuals working in fields related to colloid and surface chemistry. Velev will receive the award and deliver his lecture on August 21, 2018 during the Fall ACS meeting in Boston, Mass.

Velev leads a research group at NC State that focuses on colloids, microfluidics and nanoscience with an emphasis on controlled assembly of colloidal particles into advanced materials and microscopic functional structures.

He received an M.S. in chemical physics and theoretical chemistry (1989) and a Ph.D. in physical chemistry (1996) from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” in Bulgaria.
