NC State student chapter of AIChE wins Outstanding Student Chapter Award

The North Carolina State University student chapter of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers has been awarded the Outstanding Student Chapter Award for the 2013-2014 academic year. This is the 17th time the NC State student chapter has won this award in the last 19 years.

The AIChE student chapter at NC State, which includes 284 student members, hosts about 40 events each year including industry sponsored dinners where participating companies make presentations and provide students networking opportunities. The chapter also regularly competes in AIChE’s ChemE Car competition, which brings together student chapters from across the nation and challenges them to run a shoebox-sized car using a chemical reaction. Dr. Kim Roberts is the chapter’s advisor.

The award was presented during a special Student Awards Ceremony on Sunday, November 16, at the 2014 AIChE Annual Student Conference in Atlanta. NC State faculty and members of the student chapter were present to accept the award, including 2013-2014 officers and 2014 alumni Shivalik Daga, David Phipps and Mallor Moran. The award includes a plaque for NC State and an AIChE Certificate of Excellence for each member, as well as global recognition and publicity for the chapter.
