Engineering Career Fair breaks records

Fall 2014 Engineering Career FairThe fall 2014 NC State Engineering Career Fair, which took place on September 30 and October 1 in the McKimmon Center on campus, was a huge success, surpassing attendance records for previous fairs.

Since it began in 1998, the NC State Engineering Career Fair has become one of the largest job fairs of its kind in the country. The fall 2014 edition was no exception, with increases in the number of companies signed up and the number of job seekers attending.

This largely student-organized event garners participation from leading companies in numerous fields ranging from software development to healthcare, energy, manufacturing, and finance. With 373 companies attending the fall 2014 career fair, students and job seekers were provided with an unprecedented number of opportunities to find full-time employment, internships, and co-op opportunities.

This fall’s fair also saw a significant increase in the number of job seekers, with attendance rising from 6,578 at the fall 2013 fair to 7,540 in fall 2014.

Of those, 1,223 job seekers were non-NC State students, coming from the community, other schools, and other states. Job seekers and students came from Vermont, Louisiana, Virginia and even as far away as California to attend this open event. This national reach allows individuals from all over the country to find unparalleled job prospects while providing recognition for NC State University and the high quality of the College of Engineering.Fall 2014 Engineering Career Fair

The Engineering Career Fair continues to be unique in the possibilities it provides for students, job seekers, and companies alike. For Brian Koehler, the director of the career fair, this continuing pattern of growth and success creates a “sustainable cycle” that will continue to benefit students and NC State as a whole.

“The Engineering Career Fair is a proverbial win-win-win. Top companies come to NC State to hire the best and brightest students to be the future of their companies. So not only do students benefit by gaining jobs, but these companies benefit by recruiting top students to be future leaders. And having NC State alumni in these leadership positions means continued growth and success for the career fair, the College of Engineering, and the university.”

The spring 2015 single-day event is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 4. Learn more at http://students.engr.ncsu.edu/careerfair.
