College of Engineering international admissions reach new high

There will be more new international students at the College of Engineering at North Carolina State University this fall than ever before.

At least 65 new first-year students from outside the United States will enroll in the College for the Fall 2012 semester, according to the most recent admissions figures. Last year, 31 new international students enrolled in the College for the fall semester.

The increase mirrors a university-wide surge in international admissions. About 62 percent of those 105 new arrivals will be engineering students.

Final admissions figures will be available after the fall semester begins.

Bringing more international students to campus is a priority for NC State. The university’s 2011-2020 Strategic Plan, endorsed by the Board of Trustees last year, advocates enrolling more out-of-state and international students to increase geographic diversity and broaden students’ perspectives.
