Matriculation

What is Matriculation?

Matriculation means "joining an academic department as a degree-seeking student." Matriculation is the first step toward obtaining an engineering degree.

Matriculation Requirements

First-year engineering students are accepted into the College of Engineering as unmatriculated. They can matriculate into the department of their choice after they have successfully completed a prescribed set of courses, which includes English, calculus, chemistry, physics and the introductory engineering courses. Most first-year engineering students are able to matriculate after the first year, or whenever they compete the required courses.

Choosing an Engineering Discipline

One of the primary purposes of the freshman engineering problem-solving course, E 101, is to help students determine the best engineering discipline for them. Some of the most important opportunities within the College of Engineering require a student to be matriculated, including Cooperative Education and many departmental scholarships.

Matriculation Application

After meeting the matriculation course requirements, students may complete the Web-based Matriculation Application.
