Scholarships for New Students
The College of Engineering does not have a separate scholarship application for incoming students. New freshmen who have been admitted to NC State and have indicated engineering as their preference are automatically considered for College of Engineering scholarships based on their admissions records. There is no need to provide the College of Engineering with additional information unless you are contacted directly. We usually offer freshman Engineering scholarships following the Park Scholarship and other University-wide Scholarship Program decisions.
Approximately 125 Engineering Merit Scholarships were offered to incoming students for the 2007-2008 academic year, ranging in value from $1,000-$10,000 per year. Some are for the first year only, while others are renewable over four years. Some are based on academic merit only, while others are based on academic merit and documented financial need, which is established through the FAFSA application process.
Engineering students received 20 Chancellor's Leadership Awards (renewable awards from the Office of Scholarships & Financial Aid based on academic achievement and need) as well as a large number of Park Scholarships and other University-wide awards for the fall of 2007.
The majority of College of Engineering scholarships are in our departments, which continuing students have access to once they have matriculated.
University-Wide Scholarships
Engineering students may also be considered for one of the many University-wide scholarships offered through the University-wide Scholarship Programs and the Park Scholars Program. To be considered for one of the Merit Awards, your complete admissions application must be on file by Nov. 1 of your senior year in high school. Park scholarships are by high school endorsement or individual application to the program.
