Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Students participating in the workshop will optimize a fuel cell powered mini-car and examine different ways of supplying hydrogen to control the vehicle. Through the manipulation of various design parameters, students will learn about the basics of fuel cells and alternative energy sources. The optimized vehicles, which students can take home for continued experimentation, will be raced on the final day, and prizes will be awarded for the best performance. Other activities include hands-on demonstrations of chemical engineering applications such as biotechnology, nanoscience, and "green" engineering, as well as a field trip to a local biotechnology facility.
