| This is a workshop being offered for the second year by the Edward P. Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering. Industrial and Systems Engineering is a discipline that seeks to design and control industrial and service enterprises. The ISE Summer Workshop will feature hands-on activities in a broad spectrum of industrial and systems engineering related areas. These include ergonomics (designing work and computer interfaces for people), manufacturing (designing and making products) and operations research (optimization and computer modeling of systems including service enterprises). Hands-on activities will include ergonomic design and manufacture of products, computer-based design and analysis of systems and a final day competition. The week emphasizes creativity and hands-on activities overlaid with an understanding of how products and services are delivered in our global economy. A local plant tour will show students how the activities of the week relate to the real-world practice of engineering in contemporary companies.
Visit the ISE web site for more information on the department and read about some of their amazing research, especially in health care. http://www.engr.ncsu.edu/news/news_articles/harrysson-tbj.html
