The College of Engineering recognizes academic achievement and awards scholarships to continuing students to encourage continued success. Scholarships are based on academic record, financial need or a combination of both.

In the 2002-2003 academic year, 728College of Engineering students received scholarships valued at over $1.6M. Engineering students received a total of 980 scholarships in college-based and University-wide awards valued at nearly $3M.

The College of Engineering offers scholarships within each of its departments to students who have completed, or are in the process of completing, matriculation and are working toward a specific degree. Approximately 700 merit scholarships for continuing students are awarded each year within the ten Engineering departments.

Continuing students (sophomores, juniors and seniors) are encouraged to complete the online scholarship eligibility form using the link below. Once they submit the form, the information is retained as long as they are enrolled. They should return to the form periodically to update information that has changed. Students should be sure the information is up to date by March 1 and September 1 each year.

Benjamin Franklin Scholars

Each year the College of Engineering invites a limited number of outstanding freshmen to participate in the Benjamin Franklin Scholars Program. The program allows engineering and computer science students to complement their technical education with an in-depth study of humanities or socials sciences. Students who complete this program earn two undergraduate degrees in five years - BS in computer science or engineering and a bachelor's degree in an area of the humanities and social sciences.

Many of these scholars choose to earn a degree in multidisciplinary studies (MDS), allowing them to pursue studies such as science, technology, and society; international aspects of technology; and communication and human relations. The Benjamin Franklin Scholars Program offers some scholarships to participants.
