North Carolina State University
they're more than just buildings...

...they're a promise

Engineering on Centennial Campus
Right now, they may look like ordinary bricks, mortar, and glass, but these are the building blocks of a promise. A promise to those who have walked the halls of an NC State College of Engineering building before, to those who walk the halls of the College of Engineering now, and to those who will walk the halls in years to come.

These new halls being built will encompass the teaching, learning, and research that will shape the minds of tomorrows inventors, teachers, problem-solvers — leaders who possess the knowledge and skills to change the world will live in. In that regard, these new halls are much like the old halls of the College of Engineering.

But before there are halls, there are bricks, mortar, and glass — and there is greatness waiting to happen.

Foundations of a Promise
Since the ribbon was cut opening the Engineering Graduate Research Center on October 14th, 1997, the College of Engineering has been a noticeable presence on NC State University's Centennial Campus. However, EGRC was only the beginning of the College of Engineering's promise.

It had been over 40 years since a new academic building had been constructed for the College of Engineering. That was, until October 25th, 2002 when the College of Engineering broke ground on the first of many new academic buildings being brought to Centennial Campus. That building, Engineering Building I, was a crucial first step in the College of Engineering's attempt to fully meet the needs of its students with state-of-the-art technology and resources.

Almost a year to the day, the College of Engineering took another step forward by breaking ground on Engineering Building II, the future home of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Department of Computer Science.

Engineering Buildings I and II, funded by the generosity of North Carolina tax-payers, will provide an additional 350,000 square feet of space that will allow the College of Engineering to continue expanding, in order to fulfill the needs of all.

In order to fulfill the promise to all.
