Dr. Taofang Zeng, assistant professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at North Carolina State University, received a 2006 Honda Initiation Grant (HIG) award November 16 in a ceremony held at the 2006 HIG Technical Horizon Symposium in Boston. Zeng and five others were selected from a large pool of applicants to receive $50,000 grants for outstanding research proposals. Zeng’s proposal was titled "Waste Heat Recovery Using Nano-Engineered Interface Design."
Zeng joined the engineering faculty in 2001. His research interests include energy conversion and storage in nanostructures, synthesis of nanomaterials and nanobiotechnology.
He received his PhD in mechanical engineering (with a doctoral thesis in chemical engineering) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1998.
