NC State engineering alumnus B.D. Rodgers has established a $50,000 endowment at the College of Engineering to help students travel to project sites, consultant offices and professional conferences.

The Rodgers Builders Student Travel Fund will benefit students and faculty chaperones in the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering.

“We appreciate this generous gift from B.D. Rodgers,” said Dr. Louis A. Martin-Vega, dean of the College of Engineering. “By establishing this student travel endowment, Mr. Rodgers is supporting important educational activities of some of the nation's brightest and most energetic students.”

Rodgers, who graduated from NC State in 1949 with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, is a longtime supporter of the College. In 2000, he and his wife established the B.D. and Patricia Rodgers Scholarship, a merit-based scholarship for civil engineering students.

In 2003, officers of Rodgers Builders, the company he founded, created the B.D. Rodgers Endowment in Rodgers' honor. Rodgers is chairman of the Charlotte-based builder, which offers full-service preconstruction and construction services for health care, commercial, education, senior living and cultural arts market sectors.
