Smith Appointed by Governor to NC Board of Refrigeration Examiners
Clarence L. Smith, Assistant Head and Alumni Distinguished Undergraduate Professor of the Edward P. Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at North Carolina State University, has been appointed by Governor Easley to the North Carolina State Board of Refrigeration Examiners.
Smith was previously appointed to the Board by Governor Jim Martin, and subsequently reappointed by Governor Jim Hunt, serving from 1987 until 1999. His current term begins immediately and runs through December 31, 2010, at which point a seven-year reappointment is possible.
The State Board of Refrigeration Examiners is responsible for the licensing, oversight and discipline of refrigeration contractors and transport refrigeration contractors. In connection with its oversight responsibilities, the Board has the authority to administer examinations, issue, renew and revoke licenses, and consider complaints filed with respect to licenses, including publishing guidelines governing the suspension and revocation of licenses.
