Summer Nuclear Engineering Program Seeks Student Applications

The North Carolina State University Department of Nuclear Engineering is accepting applications to its Young Scholars Program. The two-week residential program will be held July 13-25. Deadline for applications is May 1.

The Young Scholars Program introduces students to nuclear science and technology through laboratory tours and lectures during the first week. During the second week, students work directly with faculty researchers and graduate students on research projects.

Supported in part by grants from Duke Power Foundation, Carolina Power & Light Co. and Virginia Power Co., the program is open to rising high school seniors who have demonstrated an aptitude for science and engineering. Tuition costs and partial room and board will be covered by the program. Students must pay the remaining $400 to attend.

For applications and more information, call Lynne Bridger at (919) 515-1463 or (919) 515-2301, or write to Young Scholars Program, Department of Nuclear Engineering, Campus Box 7909, Raleigh, NC 27695-7909. E-mail may be sent to bridger@ncsu.edu.
