Faculty and students in the Department of Nuclear Engineering at North Carolina State University will host a two-day Graduate Open House on Wednesday, Feb. 12 and Thursday, Feb. 13, in the Burlington Engineering Labs on campus. Tours of research facilities – including the nuclear reactor and the plasma engineering lab – as well as seminars and graduate-student presentations will highlight the event.
The open house will start at 1 p.m. on Feb. 12, and at 9 a.m. on Feb. 13. Wednesday’s agenda includes facility tours, panel discussions, seminars, a dinner with graduate students and attending a women’s basketball game at Reynolds Coliseum. Thursday will feature faculty presentations on graduate opportunities, class observations, seminars and campus tours.
Seminar and panel-discussion speakers include Dr. Paul Turinsky, head of the Department of Nuclear Engineering; Joe Donahue, executive director, Nuclear Engineering Services Department of Carolina Power & Light and American Nuclear Energy; and Cecil Parks, researcher at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
