The Mini-Baja and Formula SAE Cars, designed and produced by North Carolina State University students in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, are on display at the Museum of Life and Science in Durham, NC, through May 4. Media are invited to view the cars, which are part of a traveling exhibition called “RACECAR: The Science of Speed.” NC State is the only university invited to display the work of their students.
The cars are part of a larger program called Wolfpack Motorsports that gives students at NC State an opportunity to learn teamwork and to apply their skills. Any NC State student can participate in Wolfpack Motorsports; however, the majority are mechanical engineering undergraduates.

Editor’s Note: “Formula” cars are open-wheeled, single-seat cars with open cockpits. The car that NC State builds is in the “Formula SAE” (Society of Automatic Engineers) class. SAE is the sanctioning organization for both Min-Baja and Formula SAE cars.
