Keltie Named Associate Dean of Academic Affairs in College of Engineering at NC State

Dr. Richard F. Keltie, professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at North Carolina State University, has been appointed associate dean of academic affairs in the College of Engineering at NC State University effective January 1.  Keltie replaces Dr. Sarah A. Rajala, who was recently named associate dean for research and graduate programs in the College of Engineering.

Keltie has been a faculty member at NC State since 1981.  He achieved the rank of full professor in 1991 and was associate head of the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from 1994 to 1995.  He is a member of Sigma Xi, Phi Kappa Phi, Pi Mu Epsilon, the Acoustical Society of America and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

His professional interests include structural acoustics, vibration of rib-stiffened structures, acoustic radiation, mechanical vibrations, structural energy flow, mechanical design and wavevector-frequency methods.

Keltie received his bachelor’s in 1973, his master’s in 1975 and his doctorate in 1978, all in mechanical engineering from NC State University.
