Gould Named Interim Head of the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering

Dr. Richard D. Gould, professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering and director of the Applied Energy Research Laboratory at North Carolina State University, has been named interim head of the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering effective August 16, 2004. He replaced Dr. Mohammed Noori, who had served as head of the department since November 1999.

Gould, whose research interests include experimental heat transfer, fluid mechanics, combustion, turbulence and non-intrusive optical diagnostics, received his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Purdue University in 1987. He joined the faculty at NC State University in 1987.
