Dr. Jan Genzer, a professor in chemical and bimolecular engineering at North Carolina State University, published a feature article in the March 18 issue of Langmuir , an interdisciplinary journal on surfaces and colloids published by the American Chemical Society.
In the article, Genzer and his former student Dr. Rajendra Bhat review multi-year efforts led by Genzer and his collaborators in the general area of gradient surfaces. Genzer's work is also highlighted on the cover of the same issue.
Genzer's current research interests are focused on two topics: material self-assembly and directed assembly and the behavior of polymers at surfaces, interfaces, and in confined geometrics. His current research activities can broadly be divided into three groups: substrate pattern recognition by copolymers, directed assembly of oligomers and polymers on elastomeric substrates, and molecular and macromolecular gradients on substrates.
Genzer received his Ph.D in Materials Science and Engineering 1996 from the University of Pennsylvania. He joined the NC State faculty in 1998.
