Dr. Joel Ducoste, associate professor of civil, construction, and environmental engineering, has been invited to attend the 2008 Japan-America Frontiers of Engineering Symposium hosted by the National Academy of Engineers (NAE). The event will be take place Nov. 17-19 in Kobe, Japan.
NAE has held the symposium since 1995, bringing together 100 outstanding engineers from U.S. companies, universities and government labs to discuss leading-edge research and technical work across a range of engineering fields. NAE has more than 2,000 peer-elected members who are among the world's most accomplished engineers.
Ducoste is an expert in modeling water and wastewater treatment processes using computational fluid dynamics. He earned his undergraduate and master's degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in mechanical engineering in 1988 and 1989, respectively. He earned his doctoral degree in environmental engineering from the University of Illinois in 1996.
Ducoste joined the NC State faculty in 1998.
