The 10 online master’s degrees offered by the Engineering Online program at North Carolina State University have been named the No. 1 “Best Buy” for online engineering graduate degrees in national rankings published by GetEducated.com.
The program, which allows students to earn a master’s degree in engineering without coming to campus, cost $6,930 for North Carolina residents and $20,400 for out-of-state residents for the 2007-08 academic year. The average cost of a distance master’s degree in engineering was $23,203, according to the survey.
“Engineering Online at NC State offers a top-notch engineering education at a very reasonable price for North Carolina residents,” said Dr. Linda Krute, director of Engineering Online. “As this ranking reveals, our 10 online master’s degrees remain an exceptional value for working professionals in engineering and computer science.”
GetEducated.com is the nation’s only clearinghouse dedicated exclusively to showcasing accredited online degree programs. Its rankings, released this month, were based on a national survey of 216 online engineering programs. GetEducated.com publishes the rankings every two years.
Courses offered by Engineering Online at NC State are identical to on-campus courses in terms of content, requirements and academic rigor. Lectures presented to an on-campus class are captured, digitized and placed on the Internet for distance students to view from any location that has a high-speed connection. Course assignments, lecture notes and handouts are also made available to students on the course website.
Engineering Online offers master’s-degree programs in aerospace engineering, civil engineering, chemical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, materials science and engineering, mechanical engineering and nuclear engineering. The program also offers a master of engineering degree.
