The College of Engineering at North Carolina State University received high rankings among engineering colleges in the United States according to the Engineering Workforce Commission of the American Association of Engineering Societies (AAES) 1996 report.
Most notably, the College ranks second in the nation among major engineering colleges in the number of undergraduate degrees awarded to African-Americans.
Rankings in other categories place the College near the top among colleges in the Southern and Southeastern regions. The College ranks second in the Southeast in number of bachelor of science degrees awarded and second in the South in number of doctoral degrees awarded. Nationally, the College ranks 17th in number of doctorates awarded, up from 22nd in 1994, and seventh in bachelor's degrees awarded.
The AAES Engineering Workforce Commission conducts annual surveys and produces reports on enrollment, degrees and salaries of engineering schools. The 1996 Engineering and Technology Degrees report provides statistics on degrees awarded in the United States in engineering and engineering technology for 339 institutions during 1995-96 academic year.
