A recent article in Chemistry & Engineering News (C&EN) magazine places the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at North Carolina State University sixth among national departments of chemical engineering in spending on research and development (R&D) and sixth in federal support for R&D.

The article “Academic R&D Spending Trends” appears in the Oct. 26 edition of the magazine. The article tracks the R&D spending of national chemical engineering departments for a 10-year period. During the past 10 years, NC State’s department has remained in the top 10, with its highest ranking of second place achieved in 2005.

Published weekly by the American Chemical Society, C&EN covers science, technology, business, industry, government, policy, education and employment in the chemistry field.
